Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered

Everything you wanted to know about chiropractic care, accident recovery, and how we can help.

Does chiropractic actually work?
Yes โ€” and the research backs it up. Multiple high-quality studies and major clinical guidelines, including recommendations from the American College of Physicians, support spinal manipulation as first-line care for low back pain, neck pain, and tension headaches. For accident-related injuries, chiropractic combined with soft-tissue treatment (such as Active Release Therapy) is one of the most effective approaches available.
Is chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic is one of the safest healthcare interventions available for musculoskeletal conditions. Serious adverse events are exceedingly rare โ€” far less common than complications from long-term use of over-the-counter pain medication or surgical procedures.
Will the adjustment hurt?
Most adjustments are completely painless, and many patients report immediate relief. You may feel mild muscle soreness for 24 hours after your first few visits โ€” similar to how you feel after a good workout. Dr. Jensen always explains what he's doing before he does it.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on the nature and severity of your problem. Acute injuries often respond well in 3โ€“6 visits. Long-standing chronic problems may require 8โ€“12 visits or more. Dr. Jensen will give you an honest treatment plan with a defined endpoint at your Report of Findings. We don't believe in indefinite open-ended treatment.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major medical insurance plans, auto insurance (PIP), personal injury liens (Letters of Protection), and we can direct-bill in many cases. Call us at (817) 477-2907 with your insurance information and we'll verify your benefits before your first visit.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. Chiropractors are primary-contact providers in Texas, meaning you can come directly to us without a physician referral. We communicate with your primary care doctor or specialist whenever appropriate, and we refer out promptly when a case requires it.
What is Active Release Therapy (ART)?
ART is a patented, hands-on soft-tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Dr. Jensen is ART Full-Body Certified โ€” one of relatively few chiropractors in the DFW area with this credential. ART is particularly effective for post-accident soft-tissue injuries, whiplash, and overuse conditions. Learn more on our Active Release Therapy page.
I was in a car accident but I feel fine. Do I still need to come in?
Yes โ€” especially in the first 72 hours. The adrenaline released at the moment of a collision is a powerful natural painkiller. Inflammatory changes in your soft tissue and nerve roots can build for 72โ€“96 hours before you feel them. By the time the pain peaks, scar tissue is already forming and the window for the easiest recovery is closing. An early visit also creates the medical documentation that protects your insurance claim and legal rights.
What is a Letter of Protection (LOP)?
A Letter of Protection is an agreement between your attorney, our office, and you, in which we agree to defer payment for your care until your personal injury case settles. It allows you to receive the treatment you need now without out-of-pocket cost during your recovery. We work with LOP arrangements regularly for accident patients. Visit our Legal Resources page to learn more.
What is PIP insurance?
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is a type of auto insurance coverage that pays for your medical treatment regardless of who was at fault in an accident. Texas law requires insurers to offer PIP coverage. If you have PIP on your auto policy, chiropractic care is typically covered โ€” meaning no out-of-pocket cost to you during treatment.
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is gentle and evidence-supported. It helps with low back pain, sciatica, and pelvic alignment. Dr. Jensen uses pregnancy-specific positioning and low-force techniques. We recommend discussing any chiropractic care with your OB-GYN as well.
Is chiropractic safe for children?
Pediatric chiropractic uses extremely gentle, low-force techniques appropriate for the child's size and age. Always discuss chiropractic care for a child with your pediatrician, especially for very young children.
Once I start, will I have to keep coming forever?
No โ€” that's a common misconception. Our goal is to fix the problem, teach you how to maintain your results, and release you to self-care or occasional wellness check-ins. We measure success by how seldom you need us.
Do you take walk-ins?
We do our best to see accident victims and acute pain patients as quickly as possible. Call ahead at (817) 477-2907 and we'll do our best to get you in promptly.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you can move in. Avoid thick belts, heavy jewelry, or restrictive clothing around the area being treated.
How do I know if my case needs an attorney?
If you were injured in an accident caused by someone else and are experiencing significant symptoms or medical expenses, consulting a personal injury attorney is generally wise. Dr. Jensen's injury documentation is specifically structured to support legal claims. We can provide a warm referral to trusted personal injury attorneys in the DFW area if needed.
